Gaustatoppen near Rjukan in Telemark is a very popular mountain summit. The trail was improved with stairs in the summit section in 2016. The continuous staircase in the summit section is about 200 m. In 2019 a roughly 60-meter staircase was also built at Kleivi. In total, about 300 meters of stone stairs have been built.
In the summit section you can also spot traces of fossilized seabed if you look closely, so-called ripple marks.
From Stavsro parking all the way to the summit point, the hike is about 11 km with 800 meters of elevation gain.
