Preikestolen is one of Norway's most famous tourist attractions and is visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year. Nepalese sherpas have improved most of the trail with stone steps, which has been especially helpful through the once-difficult Neverdalsskaret, formerly a steep and slippery scree slope.

The hike starts from Preikestolen Fjellstue and is equipped with boardwalks, stone staircases, and chains.

The hike is about 8.5 km and 450 meters of elevation gain.
