Akslatrappa (Midsundtrappene)

Near Midsund, just west of Molde, sherpa staircases have been built on a large scale. As many as 6 staircases have been built in this town of around 600 residents. Staircases have been built up to Aksla, Kumlokket, Bløkallen, Midsundhornet, Digergubben, and Rørsethornet. The last of these is the longest and perhaps the most spectacular. In total, more than 8,000 steps are said to have been built across the island community.

The staircase to Aksla has about 500 steps and is the shortest of the Midsund staircases.

If you want a longer round trip, you can continue on up Akslahornet and the staircase to Digergubben, before finishing back down the staircase at Kumlokket.
