Digergubben (Midsundtrappene)

Near Midsund, just west of Molde, sherpa staircases have been built on a large scale. As many as 6 staircases have been built in this town of around 600 residents. Staircases have been built up to Aksla, Kumlokket, Bløkallen, Midsundhornet, Digergubben, and Rørsethornet. The last of these is the longest and perhaps the most spectacular. In total, more than 8,000 steps are said to have been built across the island community.

The lower section of the staircase leads up to Kumlokket. If you're heading up Digergubben/Midsundhornet, you also go up the same way.

At the trailhead there is space for a limited number of cars. Alternative parking should be signposted.

There is a "hammock park" just below the summit. A spot must be booked in advance.

Round trip about 3.8 km and 490 meters of elevation gain.
