Flørlitrappene is located in the roadless village of Flørli, on the south side of Lysefjorden in Sandnes municipality. The staircase follows the penstock to Flørli power station, built in 1918.

Flørli can only be reached by boat since the village has no road connection. A ferry from Lauvik or Forsand is the most common way. It's recommended to descend via the historic Rallarstien rather than returning via the staircase itself, as the staircase is narrow. In winter, the upper part of the staircase is closed due to avalanche danger.

The round trip is about 6.6 km with 750 meters of elevation gain.
