Fosseråsa was the first trail to receive the classification "National Tourist Trail" in 2019.

There are three sections with stairs. The first section is down in Geiranger. Here a metal walkway and stairs have been built along the river and Storfossen. There are said to be 327 steps in total. Section two is the stone-paved path above Vesterås. Section three leads down to Storsæterfossen itself.

Parking is available down by the pier or at Norsk Fjordsenter.

The round trip is about 8 km with 580 meters of elevation gain.
