Kumlokket (Midsundtrappene)

At Midsund, just west of Molde, sherpa staircases have been built on a large scale. As many as 6 staircases have been built in the town, which has around 600 inhabitants. Staircases have been built up to Aksla, Kumlokket, Bløkallen, Midsundhornet, Digergubben, and Rørsethornet. The latter is the longest and perhaps the most spectacular. In total, over 8000 steps are said to have been built in the island community.

Kumlokket is the first part of the Midsund Staircases project and was built in 2016. It has around 1000 steps. Two rest spots with benches have also been made on the way up. Up at Kumlokket there is a good view over Midsund.

The route up to Midsundhornet and Digergubben also goes up via these staircases.

At the trailhead there is space for a limited number of cars. Alternative parking should be signposted.

Round trip to Kumlokket is about 1.2 km and 240 meters of elevation gain.
