Madonnastien is a popular hike close to Eggedal. The path leads up to a granite statue of the Madonna and Child, created by artist Turid Angell Eng and unveiled in 2009. From the top you get beautiful views over Trillemarka and the surrounding mountains.
Sherpa workers from Nepal improved the path starting in 2016, and the project was completed in 2019.
The path is not a continuous staircase, so it's hard to know the exact number of steps and its length. Some sources give a figure of around 2,000. How many will you count?
The whole loop is about 6 km and 250 meters of elevation gain.
