Midnattsoltrappa is a spectacular staircase with 2,117 steps that winds up the mountainside in Spansdalen in Lavangen. The staircase was officially opened on July 8, 2023. It is built of wood, is one meter wide, with railings on both sides.
From the parking area by the community hall in Spansdalen, it's about 580 meters to the start of the staircase. Along the way there are several rest spots with views over Spansdalen and Lavangsfjorden. From the top of the staircase you can continue upward on a marked trail to the cliff at Henrikafossen.
Round trip to the top of the staircase: about 2.8km and 380 meters of elevation gain.
