Raudemelen

Raudmelen, 972 meters above sea level, rises above Balestrand and is a popular hike. The trail has been improved with boardwalks and stone staircases on wet and steeper sections. There are several nice rest areas along the way. The day-trip cabin Balebu can also be found in the area.

The uphill race Balestrand Opp is also held up to Raudemelen.

Based on aerial photos, more than 1,100 meters of stone have been laid, though there is some uncertainty since it is difficult to interpret precisely, and it can only be seen above the tree line. The stonework itself appears to consist of several separate sections, rather than the two long ones drawn on the map here.

The round trip to Raudemelen is about 10 km and 825 meters of elevation gain.
