Staircase facts
The mountain stands 484 meters above sea level in Moskenes municipality in Lofoten and draws more than 200,000 visitors a year. Due to heavy wear and dangerous situations along the original trail, it was decided to improve the trail with a stone staircase.
The mountain is still demanding and steep, and the hike is not recommended in autumn, winter, or spring due to the risk of rockslides and avalanches.
The hike is about 4 km and 540 meters of elevation gain.
