Stoltzekleiven is one of Bergen's most popular hiking trails, leading up to Sandviksfjellet. From the top you have a good view over Bergen. Many choose to continue the hike on toward Fløyen.
The staircase was completed in 1939 and has since become one of Bergen's most famous training spots. In 2011, maintenance was carried out by sherpas from Nepal. Today the staircase consists of stone steps in the lower section and wooden steps right at the top.
An annual uphill race is held here, which has made the trail known well beyond Bergen.
