Torghatten is one of Norway's most iconic mountains, known for the spectacular hole that runs straight through it. In 2024 the trail was upgraded with around 1,100 stone steps laid by sherpas, as part of the National Tourist Routes initiative. The staircase itself is a little over 900 m long with about 1,100 steps. There were also some steps here before the new staircase arrived in 2024 — the oldest are said to date from the 1870s.

The round trip is about 3 km with 100 metres of elevation gain. For a longer hike, you can extend it with the trail that goes up to the summit of Torghatten itself, 258 metres above sea level.
